It's that time again!
We're at Bolsa
Chica State beach (see end of announcement for links to
additional beach info)
Saturday, September 18th from 12:00 noon to 10:00 PM
We’re doing an
afternoon & evening
event this time around, as attendees seem to be most
interested in the bonfire and fireside feast. We’re also
trying it later in the year to avoid heavy summer crowds.
Aidan will be staking out
the fire pit this year and he will be there for the entire day
if you’d like to get in some sun and daytime beach
activities. Plan on arrival between 5-6pm for the bonfire.
We’ll stay until we get
kicked off the beach at 10:00 PM or just come by for as long
as you'd like. Please don’t come too late, as we still need
to be off the beach by 10pm and things get packed up by
9:30pm.
Bolsa Chica state beach is located 3 miles north of Huntington Beach and
just south of Sunset beach, between Warner and Golden West
streets.
From 405--
Take Golden West Exit and go
south, towards the beach.
Go all the way to PCH and
turn right onto PCH north.
The Bolsa Chica state beach
has an unmarked traffic signal at the entrance; entrance is
not well marked with signs, but the only thing around.
Enter beach and pay parking
fee ($15.00 per car) and go towards the right (north/west).
Proceed up the road and turn
left into parking lot #21 (marked on pavement).
Look for lifeguard station #23 and park nearby. We'll be at a fire ring
near/between stations 22 & 23.

Shoreline and fire rings are
close at this beach.
Close, private restroom
facilities.
Clean, remodeled beach
facilities.
Across PCH is the Bolsa
Chica ecological preserve for viewing and study of coastal
birds and wildlife (not available at night).
Also available: Fishing,
biking, surfing, snack bar, basketball court, and hot coin
showers.
We recommend everyone bring their own: chairs or blankets.
It is cold,
windy and very damp
on the beach at night. Daytime: cold beverages, shade
or umbrellas, sunscreen, hats.
Dogs and alcohol are not
allowed on this beach.
Hot
dogs, s'mores and soda & water will be provided!
Bonfire and BBQ are
available for cooking; extra cooking sticks are usually
needed.
Please bring along goodies
to share (fruit, chips, salads, cookies, etc.).
Carpool if able.
Please also bring some firewood
if possible, the more you bring, the bigger the bonfire!
We
still need help with:
1.
Someone to pick up wood (paid) and haul along with a couple of tables to
the event. Would have to get there early.
2.
Someone to monitor food table (stocked, clean, organized)
